One of the most memorable examples of original art from the famous 1989 Topps Auction.
This is one of the original paintings from 1988 T-shirt factory iron-on test set. This artwork was the prize of the set. It appeared as Lot 135c and sold for $770 at the Topps Auction, which was the highest price realized for any of the hundreds of non-sport artworks including all of the Wacky Packs which sell for thousands and thousands of dollars today. I know this was not a Wacky Pack artwork but it is one of the best non-sport artworks ever produced by Topps.
The artwork was also used on the top of the display box for the set and has incredible detail and signifies the tremendous high quality of any of the great Wacky Packs. Obviously, Topps is making a parody of their own baseball cards.
